Quesadilla Chef in Chile- Email 4/29/13

first off shoutout to shardae for the birthday this week! thats super awesome. crazy because that means mine is coming up soon too, which freaks me out. anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! i love you sis. hope you have  good one.

Next off...this letter will be super short because its obviously late and we just got back from a council meeting with president.  I found it this will be my last week here in coronel, which is kind of sad. But its all good, if ive learned anything here its that this is the lords work and we need not worry about our own problems or desires. He has it all taken care of. Anyway, we have been working really hard with Miguel, Claudia, martin and vicente, and hugo. Miguel and Leyre (claudias daughter) are getting baptized this saturday the 4th, so that will be cool that i will still get to be there for those 2 baptisms. Martin and Vicente are two brothers we are teaching right now and are just so awesome, they will be getting baptized the 11th but they are in good hands because the members are already all over them.

Claudia will be getting baptized on the 18th because she prayed and felt like that was a better day for her, because she wants her daughters day to be just special for her. So im really sad to be leaving because i just want to be here for all these people and see them through! but im trusting in the lord and i know they will be ok. I will miss them like crazy though. Hugo is this new kid we are teaching who is 20 and works a buttload but is just such a good sano joven. he really wants to change his life and just hasnt found happiness in what he has. He is incredible and we are super excited about him. The goal this week is just leave the sector as good as we can so that the new missionary who comes in will be able to help elder overson keep the success going without any hitches. We are super exicted for the sector, and for the zone as well. I feel like my letters have gotten SO lame but this is just my life now! Haha i dont even write funny things anymore. im so lame.

okay well i have one thing. this week this guy stopped us in this vega and was like "Do you happen to know who i am?" then proceeded to tell us "I am John The Baptist." Wow...talk about luck? I mean its odd that he happened to look JUST like a drunk chilean man but seriously, so crazy! And also he kissed my companion on the cheek, not sure why my companion didnt jump back from that one.

hahaha the whole way of saying hi here is still weird, and apparently this drunk man was a bit confused. but yea, john the baptist. who would have known. but for real, peoples names here are so funny. I cant even tell you how many peoples names really are Juan Bautista o Maria Paz or Maria Jose. That would translate to Mary Peace or Mary Joseph. like what?! that makes no sense! Why would a GIRLS name be MARY JOSEPH? just....cmon guys.

Other than that nothing really new. The sector is doing great. We are having so much fun, seeing little miracles with people all the time, but nothing like mary´s emails. so if you want cool miracles go there! haha great job sister moody, awfully proud of you.

Well i think thats all for the week. I sure love you all and hope that everything is going well back there in the states! Everyone keeps saying korea is going crazy but thats all i know of. so...yeah.

OH! haha i SANG IN CHURCH YESTERDAY! hahaha i almost forgot. We planned a quartet, the four of us. It was so funny guys. We started off harmonizing like they do in hot rod, all just on random notes, and everyone started BUSTING up laughing. but then we started and sang "mas cerca dios de ti" and i sang the bass part, it was super fun. they actually want us to sing again this next week. i mean, its no big deal, im just signing contracts on the daily.

Also, i taught marcelo and Paola how to make quesadillas. can we just run that through our brain right now? NO ONE in chile knows 1)what IS a quesadilla and 2) how to make one. imagine this tall white blonde kid, teaching a bunch of small chileans how to make quesadillas. they all tried doritos chunky salsa for the first time and were like " OH WOW THIS IS GOOD!" like chris farley does when he eats the french fries on SNL. please tell me someone gets that? Please? hahaha just quintessential tengberg. we do love our quesadillas.

Les quiero mucho,
Elder Tengberg (tembr according to the chileans)
